Parrini & SorliniLaw firm

The firm

Two lawyers, four offices, and a working principle: most of the troubles that reach us are not purely civil or purely criminal. They are both at once, and the direction taken first decides what remains possible later.

Paolo B. Sorlini

Paolo B. Sorlini

Founding partner. Born in Milan, law degree from the University of Milan, admitted to the Bar of Lodi. He studied in Miami, Florida, and in Beijing. Before practising law he worked for a major insurance company and ran a business in the United States.

He holds master's degrees in criminal law and defence technique and in forensic science and criminology, and has completed courses in public-defender work and immigration law. He is on the special roll of lawyers admitted before the Court of Cassation — Italy's supreme court — and is a member of the International American Bar Association and of the Milan criminal bar association.

He has organised and spoken at conferences on small and medium business, public health, the internationalisation of Italian companies, and consumer defence against banks.

Giancarlo Parrini

Also on the special roll of lawyers admitted before the Court of Cassation. His work is contract and commercial litigation, in and out of court: private and service contracts, sale of goods and property, estate agency, banking agreements and compound interest, bills and cheques, securities, agency, guarantees, mortgages, carriage, trusts, leases and franchising.

He also practises employment law — dismissal, workplace harassment, severance and unpaid entitlements — and civil law: contractual and non-contractual liability, unjust enrichment, default and insolvency, enforcement, condominium, eviction, and separation by consent or through the courts. In company matters he deals with mergers, acquisitions and the transfer of shares and holdings.

He is further qualified in mediation technique, which in Italy is a compulsory step before litigation in several kinds of dispute.

Laura Quarà

Laura Quarà

Psychologist, consultant to the firm. Degree in psychology with a specialisation in workplace problems, an MBA, and further qualification in harm from stalking, straining, workplace harassment and psycho-social stress. She took part in the Italian standardisation of the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale developed by the United States National Center for PTSD.

Her work for clients covers the psychological side of cases that are also legal: harassment at work, stalking, psychosomatic illness traceable to working conditions, and difficulties of school and adolescent age.

Why we publish our cases

The decisions we have obtained are set out in full on this site, in Italian, together with a commentary. We publish them for two reasons: so that others fighting the same battles can use the arguments, and because legal progress is built on the accumulation of experience rather than on what any one firm keeps to itself.

A selection, summarised in English, is in selected cases.
